Research Interests & Projects

Rob is interested in queer and inclusive language education broadly. His doctoral work examined ways that queer joy emerges in the context of FSL for queer Canadian FSL teachers.

He worked on several projects at the University of Ottawa, including a critical discourse analysis of the Ontario FSL curriculum, the creation of a French pilot program within the Bachelor of Education program, and the examination of how Additional Qualification (AQ) courses in Ontario prepare future FSL teachers to teach French across the province. He is currently working with other critical FSL and ESL scholars and teachers across the country to finalize an OER-funded teacher guide on implementing antiracist pedagogies and practices in FSL/ French as an additional language (FAL).
